What is the ratio of probability of Disasters? Categories: Main Page Last Modified: February 21, 2007 14:52 Article ID: 10046
The average ratio for the risk of a disaster (a random event), occurring in a Holding = 1 in 20 (one every twenty turns), which equates to a probability factor of 6 per level, per Holding. However they are random.
Each disaster does not have the same ratio of probability - the rate of occurrence for fires is approximately 70% tornados 25% and earthquakes 5%.
The rates of loss incurred by each disaster are :-
Fire loss = 10% of production Earthquake = 25% of production Tornado = 50% of production
Insurance can be bought to offset some or all losses incurred by disasters.
